Jurassic Hour #38: XSEEDing Expectations

Hey everyone, Patrick here! After a fluke with recording devices, Pete and I decided to postpone our long-overdue updates in personal life and video-gaming excesses for another episode. We had this amazing 90 minute discussion, and at the end of it, I hit “stop” on the recording software. It crashes, the file’s not there. All that talking for NOTHING! So much anger, I’ll need to see TWO therapists!

But all is not lost! For episode 38, we have our second interview with Tom Lipschultz, a localization specialist at XSEED Games. The main topic of conversation here is the upcoming “Corpse Party” sequel “Corpse Party: Book of Shadows” for PSP. Tom’s insight as localization lead on this project is a lot of fun. Also, you have about 24 hours left to buy the first Corpse Party (also PSP) at 50% of its normal cost. Get on it!

We also talk shop on a bunch of previously-released XSEED titles, including “Unchained Blades,” “The Last Story,” “Ys Origin,” “Ys: The Oath in Felghana,” and “The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.” I force Tom to speculate on future releases, especially on the Falcom front (I’m putting it out there now: this is just a gut feeling, but I’m going to say “no news is good news!”). And finally, we talk about the changing of the guard at XSEED, as founder Jun Iwasaki has moved to GungHo Online Entertainment and his place as CEO has been taken by Shinichi Suzuki, former head of Atlus USA (2004-2012).

With music from Hiroko Yamawaki and Asami Imai.
